"talk proper" is just classism and/or racism - we need to save regional speech

more human media

i wish regular people had more involvement in what is popular art and media. most of it is dictated by wealthy artists and executives, and even stuff regular folk make has to conform to the rules of rubbish algorithms, or their made up ideas about the algorithm (i don't believe self censorship of "bad" words makes as much difference as content creators think it does). these algorithms selecting what becomes popular, driven by how braindead they can make their viewers so they keep watching, instead of by how positive an experience the content actually is- end up catalysing the creation of unimaginable amounts of slop content.

we need to stop talking about online "content", and care more about online art. why should the things people put effort into making on the internet not be creative, memorable, and inspiring? well it's just easier and more profitable to pump out 50 hours of ai generated sludge a day than to caringly embody your ideas. i don't think this rubbish "content" would be popular at all if people consumed online media entirely by recommendations from other people, instead of by clicking on what an algorithm serves them.

people need to care more about art made by regular people, and not what millionaire celebrities make. there is no way that the artists who have the top 80% of views or records sold have anything like as much creativity to match it. the majority of artists aren't as respected in their work, even though they hold, as a whole, most of the creativity. i think this manifests partly in the hatred of poor quality or "bad art" (especially by artists trying to avoid making it). folk should just stop caring about it so much, really. how is making art with little effort or that turned out with mistakes in it worse than doing nothing and not making anything? i'd rather live in a world where everyone is creative and makes art, at varying degrees of skill, than in one where only famous people are considered very good artists, and the rest of art is seen as shit or banned from existing because it's too visible and in public, like graffiti (think of the poor defenceless corporate owned private property!)

i think we need to do all that we can to encourage working class people to make art, and help support those who already are.
